In a joint project the SUNRISE Rotary Club spent two days painting the pool house at the Living Memorial Park Recreation Area, with the Brattleboro Rotary Club. *********** The Brattleboro SUNRISE Rotary Club members spent a day on clean up at Camp Waubanong, the Windham County 4 H Camp. The trails were raked and branches and trees removed from the winter storms. The dining hall was swept and cleaned. The camp will open July 1 with campers from Windham County, and many other areas of New England. We do this project as a tribute to Hans Weltz, one of our members, who died this past year.**************The group study exchange individuals have arrived back home from Nigeria with great enthusiasm. They had a very successful and exciting four week stay in Nigeria. They will be reporting to our club at one of the meetings later in the summer. Team member, Jay Cook, gave a ,ost interesting account of his Nigerian experiences. **************Past President Mann attended the "Changing of the Gavel" at the Little Red Schoolhouse in Wallingford, VT. The gavel was passed from District Governor Nicknair to incoming District Governor Carolyn Crowley Meub. Both made short talks. The "Little Red Schoolhouse" is where the founder of Rotary Internation, Paul Harris, went to school. He credits his time spend in that area with being the foundation for his concept of Rotary.************** Several special meetings on membership will be held during the summer as club assemblies. Watch your club bulletin for dates.*************There was a special breakfast for potential members to tell them about the SUNRISE Rotary Club on June 26th, by invitation. If you would like to attend a regular morning meeting of the SUNRISE Rotary Club, please contact any of our members. Seven new members have been welcomed into the club. | |

On August eleventh the first SUNRISE annual Welcome Center Vermnt Greeting Day was held. Members of the club cooked hamburgs and hot dogs, and gave them, along with Bagels and cheese, fruit pies and snacks and bottled water, coffee and many home baked cookies and brownies to Welcome Center Guests. The visitors were greeted and welcomed to Vermont and invited to partake of the free foods. It was hoped that they would leave a donation for the benefit of Rotary Charities and many of them did. There were posters to tell the story of what Rotary does in the community and around the world. This event was a fine success and fun for all. We look forward to our next visitor greeter which will be held in mid October.********** The Daytona Raffle tickets are now available. They are five dollars each.
